This 5-day tour is an exploration of what makes South Africa such a top tourist destination, and with you in the driver’s seat, it will be a road trip etched into your memory forever. Starting in Port Elizabeth, you will navigate through the well-maintained roads of South Africa’s third-largest national park, home to more than 700 elephants. Your days will be filled with more wildlife, the Garden Route’s mesmerising indigenous forests where you can go on adventure activities, explore nature reserves and the natural wonder of a 20-million-year-old cave system, and go on boat cruises. There is even an option of doing another game drive because once the safari bug bites, you will just want more and more.

Welcome to the start of your Port Elizabeth the Cape Town
tour. Let’s kick things off on a high note and with the possibility to see the
big five! We suggest leaving Port Elizabeth by no later than 12pm, but the
earlier you leave the more time you can spend in South Africa’s third-biggest
national park, home to more than 700 elephants, lions, buffaloes and a variety
of smaller game. Here you can go on a self-guided game drive or ask us to
arrange a specialised ranger to join you on your safari drive (For an
additional cost). You will end the day just in time to make it to your
accommodation to overnight in a small coastal town, famous for its big waves
and host to numerous international surfing competitions (get in touch if you
want our help with booking your accommodation).
Today you will make your way into the Garden Route, South
Africa’s green heart with indigenous forests, plenty of lakes, rivers, and
incredible seaside views. Here you will visit the world’s first free-roaming
multi-species primate sanctuary which stretches out over a space of 12 hectares
– eco-tourism is no monkey business. Along the way there is a variety of
opportunities to take part in some activities that will call on adventure
junkies – from swinging from treetop to treetop to bungy jumping from the
world’s highest commercial bungy jump from a bridge.
Another day in paradise is on the cards today, the Garden
Route has so much to offer. A half-day activity – which includes a boat cruise,
a hike and lunch – will take you into the indigenous coastal and fynbos forest.
You can look forward to spectacular viewpoints, a specialist guide sharing
information, going into an ancient sea cave, and having lunch under a canopy of
trees. You will have some leisure time today and can either explore more of the
area (we have a whole list of suggestions when it comes to additional
activities) or rest and relax at your accommodation.
There’s more to Garden Route for you to explore, more small
towns and more activities to take part in and we will provide you with options
before you wave the coast goodbye for a day and make your way into the Karoo,
South Africa’s semi-arid desert. Brace yourself for more fun as you join a tour
into an underground natural wonder. The caves that you will be visiting are
more than 20 million years old and consist of hidden chambers that you can
experience through an easy walk (tours take place on the hour, every hour and
the last tour is at 16:00). Due to the area’s climate and rich history,
Oudtshoorn is known as the world’s ostrich capital and you will visit an
ostrich show farm where you can see an ostrich’s journey from egg to feather.
You can even feed them and stand on ostrich eggs to find out just how strong
the shells are. Part of the day’s itinerary is a trip to a secret waterfall –
engraved into the mountain – that not many people know about.
Experience more of South Africa’s wildlife on a game drive
at a luxurious private reserve which is home to hippos, giraffes, and four of
the magnificent big five animals. Slowly but surely, we will make our way to
Cape Town where we will drop you off at your hotel in the city or in the
Winelands. You can also extend your experience and opt to book our three-day
tour of Cape Town – these tours can also be separated into day tours.
